FIJI AIRWAYS APPOINTS SHARUN ALI AS GENERAL MANAGER SAFETY, SECURITY AND QUALITY

29th August, 2014: Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, has welcomed a General Manager among its Executive ranks with the appointment of Sharun Ali as General Manager Safety, Security and Quality.

Ali was promoted from his current position as Senior Manager Safety and Security, looking after safety and security functions across the national carrier’s entire global operations.

Stefan Pichler, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways commented: “I am delighted to announce this appointment, which is effective from the first of September. We have a strict and stringent criteria in place for executive appointments such as this and Sharun has demonstrated over the past eight months that he is fully deserving of this position.”

He added: “Safety is our Number One priority and the General Manager position drives this objective for our organisation. We have and will always run safe airline operations under Sharun’s leadership. His experience in our company will be a great asset to his fellow General Managers, and will help us continuously improve other aspects of our business.”

Ali is a career professional with Fiji Airways. Originally from Lautoka, he has over 17 years of experience with the airline, having worked as Flight Attendant and Quality Auditor, before moving in various manager roles with the airline’s Safety and Security Department.

A fully trained IATA Operational Safety Auditor, Ali holds numerous IATA Diplomas in Airline Quality Management, Safety Management and Airline Operations. He also hold an MBA (General Management) and is currently pursuing a Masters in Quality Systems.

The appointment reports directly to the Managing Director and CEO.
