Voting open to the public until 6 March 2014

Nadi, Fiji: Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national airline, has been shortlisted in the inaugural Guinness World Records Festival of Media awards.

The Fiji Airways mid-air weddings, which was awarded the Guinness World Record for ‘Highest Altitude Wedding on an Aeroplane’ in August last year, is in the running for the ‘Record-Breaking Brand Award’ in the premier Festival of Media Asia Pacific Awards in March.

Guinness World Records is the global authority on record-breaking achievements. The award recognises the top record-breaking media campaigns held in the Asia-Pacific region over the past 12 months.

Fiji Airways has been judged to be among the brands which are “using the power of record-breaking achievements for impactful, creative and innovative global campaigns.”

The shortlist of finalists was selected by Festival of Media Asia Pacific judges, and the winner will be selected by the industry through a public vote.  Voting closes on 6 March, with the winner announced on 18 March. The full list of finalists can be found at

Fiji Airways launched the unique campaign to celebrate its rebrand from Air Pacific, which saw five New Zealand couples married simultaneously at the world record-topping altitude of 41,000ft in August 2013.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler says Fiji Airways is proud to have been chosen as a finalist for this inaugural award.

“This is certainly a wonderful opportunity for Fiji Airways, and an honour for us to be recognised alongside leading brands in the region for innovative marketing campaigns. We are extremely proud of our airline and this leads us to celebrate our new brand with something very special. We were honoured to have been a part of our five couples’ special day and getting the chance to make a difference to their lives together.”
