FIJIAN PRIME MINISTER SENDS WELL WISHES TO STATE OF KUWAIT ON NATIONAL CELEBRATIONS

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has sent a congratulatory message to His Highness, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait.

“I wish to offer you, your Government and the people of Kuwait the warmest congratulations both personally and on behalf of the Fijian people, as you celebrate the 53rd anniversary of your National Day and the 23rd anniversary of your Liberation Day”, Prime Minister Bainimarama said.

“This is a time for the Kuwaitis to celebrate the richness of its history and the promise of its future. Despite the diversity of your people, you have come together as a unified, prosperous and a peaceful nation under a strong and determined leadership”.

The Prime Minister highlighted the growth in relations between Fiji and the State of Kuwait over the years including their recent show of support towards the Pacific Islands Development Forum.

“Our two countries are bound by our desire for international peace and prosperity for our people. I note with pleasure the progressive bilateral relationship that is growing between our nations and our people. I am delighted to note the development of recent export opportunities from Fiji to Kuwait and the involvement of Fijian companies in Kuwait. I am also aware of the growing Fijian community in Kuwait who are working in Kuwait, thus contributing to development your economy, while they support their families back home in Fiji through their remittances.”

“I wish to thank you personally for your Government’s generous financial support that was given to Fiji to host the inaugural meeting which launched the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) in August 2013. With the establishment of the PIDF, the collective voices of the Pacific small island states can now be heard and represented in these meetings through the PIDF. As the Pacific’s only South-South Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Sustainable Development, the PIDF is the Pacific’s legitimate representative at the forthcoming meetings.  I look forward to the continued interest of Kuwait in the development and the work of the PIDF”.
