FIJIAN PRIME MINISTER TO DELIVER NATIONAL STATEMENT UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY DEBATE

Wednesday, September 24, 2014. PRIME Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Voreqe Bainimarama will deliver Fiji’s national statement at the UN General Assembly’s general debate this Saturday (New York time).

In the lead-up to the General Debate at the United Nations in New York this week, the Fijian delegation led by Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the UN Peter Thomson has been present at preliminary United Nations gatherings this week.

This week the delegation presented Fiji’s input to the Special Session on the follow-up to the Programme of Action on the InternationalConference on Population and Development.

The delegation, which also included Ambassador-at-Large Major General Naivalurua, had also attended the  World Conference on Indigenous People.

Ambassador Thomson delivered Fiji’s national statement at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Change Summit today.

The Fiji statement urged all countries to work diligently towards an equitable, ambitious and legally-binding climate agreement.”
