Suva, 18 September 2015 – A new logo, fresh categories and the applications for the 2015 Awards Season officially signalled the beginning of a new era of the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) today, Friday, 18 September.

The event, one of the most prestigious and talked about event in Fiji’s tourism sector began in 1998 and has grown exponentially year after year. In July this year, after committing as Gold Sponsors in previous years, ANZ were awarded the Naming Rights Sponsor for FETA for the next three years.

The 19th ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2015 will be held on 19 February, 2016.

FETA’s Chairman for the Board of Trustees, James Sowane says that with the positive changes made, the 2015 Awards Season is expected to receive a huge number of applications, which is already apparent by gauging the interests shown by the tourism industry players who have participated in the previous years.

“We’re thrilled to launch the new logo for the 19th ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards. The new design created by HotGlass Fiji in conjunction with Sansom Design, is a stylized traditional motif which has been impaled in perspective to illustrate an upward and onward movement. It is a trailblazing shooting star—a star that leads and a star to be followed. It is the one to be reached for in the quest for excellence in Fiji’s tourism industry,” Mr Sowane says.

Mr Sowane also revealed other changes made to the categories of awards.

“We will have newer categories and will revamp some of the existing ones. These involve three new Individual Awards to recognise our industry leaders at different levels. A new Destination Marketing category will also be introduced for the 2015 season. Other changes include renaming and modifying the several other categories.”

Speaking on behalf of ANZ, Deputy CEO Mr Rakesh Ram congratulated the Board on the rebranding exercise and also revamping of categories, which clearly sets the platform for the future.

“The active engagement taken since our sponsorship announcement in July, clearly indicates the level of commitment and experience within the Board and Trustees of FETA.” Mr Ram says.

“Our participation as the naming rights sponsor reaffirms ANZ’s commitment to help grow the Fijian economy and promote Fiji tourism to the rest of the world through our international footprint in 34 countries across many parts of the world,” Mr Ram adds.

“FETA is an event which gives recognition to individuals and organisations in Fiji’s tourism industry who continuously strive and apply excellence in their roles and businesses. The changes to FETA is our commitment to keep the progressive rhythm of the industry for the growth of the nation,” Mr Sowane adds.

The applications for the 19th ANZ FETA close on Monday, 19 October.
