The Under-16 girls’ team from Gospel High School are through to the final of the Suva Secondary Schools’ Competition, after their win over Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) at the FSC Cricket Ground yesterday.

Winning the toss, Gospel sent RSMS in to bat, who promptly finished on 5-40 after their ten overs.  The girls from RSMS shared the honours with the bat, whilst with the ball it was Ana who excelled for Gospel, finishing with figures of 2-8 off her allotted two overs.

In reply Maraia starred for Gospel in the middle, essentially guiding her team to victory with her unbeaten score of 19 with the bat.  After just seven overs Gospel reached the required total for the loss of just one wicket, safely seeing them through to the U16 girls’ final against Adi Cakobau School.

In the second innings it was Ledua who had the best bowling for RSMS, taking 1-13 off two overs.

The final semi-final match of the Suva Secondary Schools’ Competition will be held this afternoon, when Gospel take on Dudley High School in the Under-18 girls’ division.

Play will commence at approximately 3.30pm at the FSC Cricket Ground.
