The Terraces Apartment Resort Denarau and Sunergise Fiji Limited today announce the launch of Fiji’s first grid connected solar powered resort.
Leading Pacific solar energy provider Sunergise has installed a 72.5KW roof mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array at the Denarau resort. The Terraces will now be able to generate all of its daytime power needs from clean, reliable energy.
The system will produce an impressive 120MW of renewable electricity annually, and displace over 90 tons of carbon dioxide – the equivalent of planting 450 trees. The solar panels, installed by Sunergise’s engineering partner Clay Energy, will enable The Terraces to save thousands of dollars in electricity costs and ‘green’ its carbon footprint.
Renowned as one of the friendliest and most affordable of Fiji’s high quality resorts, The Terraces Apartments welcomes visitors to comfortable accommodation and stunning views of the Denarau golf course.
Chairman of DGTA-INC, Gerald Barrack, says the move will honor the natural environment of Fiji and its clients’ desire to see it maintained for future generations.
“We felt it was important to become the first resort to offer solar accommodation to our visitors. The pristine state of Fiji is a big draw card for our guests, many of whom return annually and we’ve seen a growing trend towards our guests desiring not only luxury but also sustainability. Sunergise is enabling us to provide both for our customers”.
Ajay Raniga, Director of Sunergise Fiji, adds “We were delighted to be able to offer our solar power service to The Terraces. With 45 Apartments, this project presented an exciting technical challenge.
We look forward to continuing to work closely with The Terraces to ensure we deliver only the highest quality of affordable, renewable energy over the life of the System.”
