HEAVY RAIN WARNING

Members of the public are advised that Damaging Heavy Swell Warning and Heavy Rain Warning remain in force for the whole of Fiji Group.

A damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for low lying coastal areas of Mamanuca Group, Southern Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau Group.

Situation: An intense low pressure system to the far south of Fiji is expected to generate and direct heavy southerly swells over the southern parts of the group.

Forecasts to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Damaging heavy swells may lead to sea flooding of low lying coastal areas of Mamanuca group, southern Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti, and southern Lau Group.

Elsewhere, moderate southerly swells. Moderate to rough seas.

Fine apart from brief showers over the Eastern and interior parts of the larger islands. Cool at night.

Ensure appropriate supply of food and water is available.

Be aware of the nearest evacuation centre should the need to evacuate be required.

Strong winds still prevail for today with heavy sea swells. Sea travellers and boat operators are advised via radio to refrain from going out.

All drivers must take precaution while driving in low lying areas possible flood during the night.
