Local tennis tournament to encourage youngsters

Nadi Sports and Social Club to host a first ever junior grades tennis tournament “Kingsew International Junior Tennis Classic”, tomorrow.

Tennis Director and Tournament Coordinator, Sachin Reddy said it will be a good exposure for the children to showcase their talent.

“This is a first ever event for junior players. We are having the Under-9 grades too, which is the first ever in Fiji.”

“We are also allowing children below the age of nine to be part of this tournament,” he said.

Reddy also said the tournament will not only feature participants from Nadi.

“We will also have participants from Lautoka and as far as Suva here competing and also have a good time,” he said.

Reddy said the tournament will hold matches with both Male and Female gender competing in, and not a knock out match.

“We are expecting 40-50 participants to come and take part,” he said.

The tournament will have the Under-9 play for only one day where they will only pay an entry fee of $5, and the Under-12 & 15 for two days where in the singles event will be charged with 10 and doubles will be charged with $5.

The tournament will kick start tomorrow, from 8.30am to 4pm.
