MESSAGE TO PEOPLE OF FIJI FROM THE POLICE COMMISSIONER

I as your Commissioner of Police would like to express my sincere gratitude to every Fijian in cooperating with the Fiji Police Force in ensuring the 2014 General Elections was conducted successfully.

Your support in heeding the call to respect the electoral process resulted in the smooth conduct of the elections.

While there were minor reports of political intolerance reporting during the pre/post-election period, other criminal cases were minimal during the past week.

This was also indicative of the daily situation reports with little or no major crime cases reported over a 24 hour period during the election from around the divisions.

Our routine police operations continued with the push-forward of manpower to ensure the Fiji Police conducted Election duties as well as routine police operations without hindrance.

Our mission was to provide a safe and secure environment for the conduct of the 2014 General Elections and I am of the belief that with the support and hard work put in by all my officers since pre-polling, we have achieved that goal.

We will continue to monitor situation and we still have standby teams throughout the divisions.

I once again say vinaka vakalevu to every Fijian for being law abiding citizens during the pre/post-election period which has contributed towards the success of the Fiji Police Force’s 2014 General Election operations.

I would also like to acknowledge and express my gratitude to all police officers who walked the extra mile in the conduct of their duties.

B.J.J GROENEWALD

COMMISSIONER OF POLICE
