Minister calls for more support in the fight against crime

The Minister for Defence, National Security and Immigration, Joketani Cokanasiga has called for more support from members of the communities, stakeholders to put their efforts together in the effort to fight against crime.

In opening the Fiji Police National Community Policing symposium held at the Police Academy in Nasova, Cokanasiga said to maintain a peaceful and secure Fiji is an enormous task, everyone knows that the Fiji Police Force cannot do it alone and they need all our support.

He said with the theme Advancing Community Policing for Economic Growth is a commitment that calls on all stakeholders to acknowledge that we all have a role to play.

‘To maintain an environment that is safe and secure, as well as promote an enabling and supportive environment for economic growth, needs all our cooperation.

‘A safer Fiji will certainly be a haven for business entrepreneurs for visitors to our shores as well as for citizens of this country to continue to enjoy the beauty and diverse cultures of our country,’ he said.

The opening of the symposium was attended by some members of the Diplomatic Corps this morning attracted over two hundred participants and police officers.
