FIJI appreciates the prevailing goodwill and sincerity with neighbour Niue and congratulates the island state on their 39 years of self governance, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
In a note to the Premier of Niue, Mr Toke Tufukia Talagi, the Fijian head of government extended the well wishes of the Fijian people on Niue’s 39th anniversary of a self-governing parliamentary government in free association with New Zealand.
“I acknowledge once again that the Island Nations of Niue and Fiji lie as neighbours along the same Latitude in the Pacific and have mutually enjoyed the warm reciprocity amongst Pacific colleagues,” Prime Minister Bainimarama said.
He said Fiji looks forward to jointly exploring opportunities for closer collaborations in areas that will strengthen the capacities of both our people.

2 DRAIBA SCHOOL BRIEF MINISTRY ON OLPC PROGRESS
Draiba Primary School this week briefed senior staff of the Ministry of Education on the progress of the One Laptop per Child project at the school.
The project was launched earlier this year by the Minister for Education and Draiba Primary is one of the three schools piloting the programme.
The brief was part of a workshop program organised by the Ministry to look at ways of improving standards and capacity building in schools.
“I am certain that this workshop will change our mindset to transit from our individuality and to work together for the betterment of education in this nation. We need to culture teamwork, excellence and quality in our district education office to ensure that we provide quality service to our customers,” said the Ministry’s permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal.
In addressing the education officers in Draiba, the Permanent Secretary highlighted the significance of education officers and teachers being abreast with this technological era that we are in.

3 CO OPERATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL EDUCATION
The President of the Universitas Ciputra Entrepreneurship Center, Mr Antonius Tanan and its director, Dr Ivan A Sandjaja met with senior staff of the Ministry of Education this week.
Mr Tanan delivered the keynote address at this year’s Public Service Commission Service Excellence Awards.
The meeting looked at possible cooperation between Fiji and the Indonesian University on entrepreneurial education.
Mr Tanan made presentations of success stories from students in their university. The university is welcoming officials from the Ministry of Education and interested individuals to visit their university and develop to fully utilize any entrepreneurial interest or skills that they have.
“We have taken note of your presentation today and we will identify areas where we can mutually pursue towards laying a sound foundation for entrepreneurial education. It is indeed an alternative that Fiji will look towards especially with the resources that we have available,” said the Ministry’s permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal.
Mr Tanan said the vast resources and opportunities that exist in Fiji can boost entrepreneurial development.
