Janine Tuivaiti, Miss South Pacific 2013 gave an inspiring speech to delegates at the 2013 Bula Fiji Tourism exchange at InterContinental Fiji’s Kama Lounge.

Ms Tuivaiti spoke to the delegates during a morning tea event that was hosted by the South Pacific Tourism Organization.

In her presentation, which included a song and traditional Samoan dance, Miss South Pacific challenged delegates to recognize the importance of treasuring the heritage and culture of the region, in an effort to educate and provide visitors with a better understanding of their environments while visiting.

“The treasures of our islands lie in the beauty of our lands, the wonders of our oceans, the intricacies of our crafts, and uniqueness of our cultures,” she stated.

SPTO Marketing Manager Petero Manufolau says hosting the event was a way for the organization to create awareness by affirming their commitment to tourism and development in the region.

BFTE is focused on building business relationships within the South Pacific region, and cementing existing ties. This year it is being held at Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa. The resort is located 45 minutes from NadiInternationalAirport and offers guests an outer-island experience on the mainland.
