Miss World Fiji

The Miss World contest, the oldest and largest pageant in the world continues to break records each year. A confirmed 130 contestants will embark upon the Indonesian resort island of Bali in September to begin festivities and competition for the 63rd Miss World crown.

Fiji’s representative to this prestigious event will be crowned on June 1st at what is expected to be an evening of fashion, glamour and entertainment. The Pearl South Pacific Resort in Pacific Harbor will play host and General Manager, Natalie Marletta and her events team has planned an evening that will showcase the uniqueness in what the resort offers in terms of dining and entertainment. Production of the contest will be mirrored around international concepts with influences from various Miss World productions in The Maldives, The Seychelles and China.

Trump Model Management’s Director of Model Scouting, Duane Gazi will be head judge and will select Fiji’s representative to the global finals. Mr. Gazi who is a regular judge at Donald Trump’s Miss Universe and Miss USA contest will bring with him a wealth of judging experience.

Miss World’s judging format is unique in the sense that it is held privately and this will be done also for Fiji’s national final. Finalists competing for the chance to represent Fiji at the international finals will be judged at a private event to be held on May 30th.

They will be judged in swimsuit, evening wear and interview and from this criteria, a new Miss World Fiji will be selected and crowned come June 1st.

“Miss World is not about selecting the girl with the most articulate answers nor is it about selection of the most popular. It is about selecting the best ambassador to represent the Miss World brand globally and her commitment to raising awareness and funds for ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. It is also about showcasing the diversity of the Miss World brand says FBC Director of Sales and Marketing, Morika Hunter.”

This year, a total of 3 preliminary awards will also be awarded which will include Miss Photogenic, Beach Beauty and Vote for Me – My Miss Fiji. A panel of experts will select Miss Photogenic and Beach Beauty while the public text votes will determine the winner of Vote for Me – My Miss Fiji.

Australian Swimwear brand, Robb and Lulu will provide swimsuits for the 10 finalists in the first preliminary event that will take place this Saturday – Miss World Fiji’s Beach Beauty competition. Tickets for the main event go on sale this week and can be purchased from Fiji Broadcasting House in Suva or at The Pearl in Pacific Harbor.
