MURDER OF FIJIAN NATIONAL IN SYDNEY

On Sunday 20 January 2013, Salaseini BATIRAU and Nacanieli LUTU were involved in a verbal argument at their Sydney home address.

During the argument Nacanieli LUTU grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Salaseini BATIRAU numerous times in the chest. Salaseini BATIRAU succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.

Their child Losana LUTU witnessed the incident taking place. Police attended a short time later and arrested Nacanieli LUTU.

He was interviewed by police and subsequently made admissions to stabbing his wife and was charged with murder. Bail was refused. Nacanieli LUTU’s children have been placed in the care of family members.
