Prefects play a vital part on the running of Nadi Sangam School, assisting and supporting both staff and pupils.
Those were the words of the Nadi Sangam School Assistant Head Teacher Emali Qarau during her address at their Prefects Induction ceremony earlier today.
Mrs. Qarau said they, the student body follow a certain criteria to appointing the 86 prefects of the school.
“These prefects are split among the three different roles, which are the class prefects, the environment prefects and the school prefects.”
“Each of the team has individual responsible to take care of on a daily basis,” she said.
Mrs. Qarau mentioned the importance of the school appoint environment officers for this year.
“Environment Prefects have a great responsibilities and role to play in and out of the school. They are advocates of 3Rs- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and keeping the school clean and beautiful and maintain its high reputation in becoming the overall winner of the clean school campaign organized by JICA and the Nadi Town Council,” she said.
Newly elected Head Boy, Trishaan Kumar said it was indeed a privileged to be given the role at the school.
“For me this id the first stepping stone and I will work to the best of my ability to meet the school’s expectations,” he said.
Namrata Chand was appointed Head Girl of the school.
Educating about 1000 students including kindergarten, Nadi Sangam School appointed 48 class prefects, 6 senior prefects, 6 assistant prefects, 4 deputy prefects, 2 head prefects, 16 environment officers and 6 environment prefects.
Meanwhile, Chief Guest at the ceremony was the school’s very own generous donor for over the years now, Sarla Devi Viriaia, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs Harry Viraia, donated a cheque of one thousand dollars to the school, for students who can’t afford to pay for their fees.
