NADI TO CELEBRATE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS IN A BIG WAY

The Nadi Festival of Lights Committee has received a major boost following the signing of a $10,000 sponsorship deal with WEBCOM – a Nadi based web development and email hosting provider.

2014 Festival of Lights celebrations was officially launched by Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama recently and will be held from October 16-18 at Koroivolu Park in Nadi.

FREE Stall has been allocated for charitable group as part of our community services with Projects Abroad will be providing free medical checkup at the grounds. Wildnerness Amusement rides will be putting up five rides and two bouncy castles for kids to enjoy.

“On opening night will be hosting an Inter-secondary School competition, we have one school from Sigatoka and one from Ba that has confirmed, and many schools from Nadi/Lautoka that have confirmed so far,” event coordinator Vineel Nand said.

“We will be having, flower shows, individual and group performances such as Masti Arts Group, Vou and Oceania Artistic Dance group from Suva that will be travelling down to Nadi this week and also the Fire & Fijian dance group from Nadi Farmers Club,” Mr Nand added.

He said the grand firework display will be the major highlight on closing night at 9.15 PM.

“We will be having tourists from various hotels in the western division at the event as well. People of all walks of life can come and enjoy the three-day festival of lights absolutely FREE, also there will be free snacks by FMF and unlimited entertainment for the people and visitors of Fiji.”

The theme of the event this year is “A Festival full of Joy, Unity, Colors & Prosperity”.

“The Festival was launched by the Prime Minister of Fiji on July 30 at Nadi Civic Centre, and the organising committee would like thank Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for initiating the idea way back in 2010,” Mr Nand added.
