National U19 mens squad begin training for NZ

The National under-19’s mens squad has begun training in Suva in preparation for the Pepsi ICC U19 mens trophy to be held in Blenheim, New Zealand. The event will take place from the 24th of February til the 1st of March and include a round robin style tournament between competing nations Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu and Fiji.

The ICC EAP U19 trophy will also be the regional qualifying event for the 2016 Under 19 Cricket World Cup to be held in Bangladesh. The winner of the ICC EAP U19 Trophy will proceed directly to the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, while the second team will go through to a global qualification event for another chance to qualify.

The Fijian squad will be training at Buckhurst Park – Suva across the next 20 days under the watchful eyes of Cricket Fiji high performance manager Jo Rika and national head coach Shane Jurgensen.
