NAVUA COMPANY RECEIVES GRANT FROM AGRICULTURE MINISTRY

This week Government presented a grant of more than $200,000 to Ben’s Trading Limited of Navua as part of its commitment to boost Fijian exports.

Ben’s Trading Limited is one of Fiji’s major exporters of cassava and taro to New Zealand, Australia and US markets.

The cheque was handed over by the Ministry of Agriculture permanent secretary Ropate Ligairi to Ben’s Trading Limited managing director Peni Moi. The upgrading of the shed facility is part of the Government’s strategic priority to enhance crop production to increase exports together with food and income security.

“The Fijian Government would like to acknowledge the work done by your company in the export of root crops as it benefits the country as a whole as well as our people,” said Mr Ligairi at the cheque presentation ceremony held at his Ministry’s office in Suva.

Through the fund, Ben’s Trading Limited will extend and ensure the shed is compliance to international standards, to pack root crops for the international markets.

“I would like to thank the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture for recognizing my Company and meeting my needs,” said Mr. Moi.
