The U.S. Navy, in coordination with Government of Fiji is conducting Pre-Deployment Site Surveys to facilitate planning for the Pacific Partnership 2015 Program in Fiji.
Since 2006, Pacific Partnership, the largest annual humanitarian and civic assistance mission in the Asia-Pacific region, has focused its mission on providing humanitarian and civic action programs that strive to improve critical infrastructure and support host nation programs that provide health, education, and common services to local populations. Pacific Partnership forms bonds between nations and organizations who share a common interest in maintaining a stable and secure Pacific region by ensuring they are prepared to support emergency relief efforts.
A team of nineteen U.S. Navy personal are in Fiji from December 1st till December 7th visiting Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, Labasa and Savusavu to conduct surveys which will allow the team to identify areas that would be best served by Pacific Partnership’s mission.
The results of these surveys will determine the feasibility of operating a mission in Fiji in 2015.
