Players encouraged to chase contracts in New Zealand and Australia

By JOSEPHINE NAVULA

Fiji’s top players are now being encouraged by Fiji National 15’s coach Inoke Male to chase contracts in Australia and New Zealand rather than Europe if they want to improve their game.

He said Europe remains the most popular destination for Fijian Internationals, largely due to more financially lucrative deals being on offer.

Male said the type of game in Australia and New Zealand suits Fijians better and they often settled in those countries more readily than in European nations.

Male later added it would also make it easier to assemble players based in New Zealand and Australia for international duty, particularly given the reluctance of some European clubs to release players for Test matches.
