Poisonous chemicals cause death of 37-year old

A second person died following what is believed to have been a case of inhaling harmful chemicals onboard a vessel berthed at the Draunibota Bay Thursday February 19.

The victim who died early this morning is a 37 year old male and was one of the maintenance crew who was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital yesterday.

Eight men which include officers from the National Fire Authority and Ambulance Service were taken to hospital after the incident. Still admitted are three men who were members of the maintenance crew.

All the paint and chemicals found onboard have been taken to the Fiji Police Forensic Laboratory for testing.

Investigations continue.
