Diver dies in Lau 

Police are investigation the death of a 27 year-old man who died whilst diving for beach-de mer in the Lau waters on Wednesday.

The decease with two other men were diving in the waters off Namuka Island in the Lau group when the incident happen.

They were on their way back to the village after diving fir beach-de mer when the deceased collapsed inside the boat.

He was rushed to the Namuka I Lau health centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A team of police officers and the pathologist will leave for the island today to investigate the death.

Drug arrest

Four men are now in police custody after they were arrested by police for allegations of dealing in illicit drugs.

The four – a 61 year old man, 36, 26, and 23 year old were all arrested at a residence in Rewa Street yesterday.

Also found on them were 3 sachets and 21 bullets of dried leaves wrapped in alluminium foil  believed to be Indian Hemp.

The dried leaves have been sent to Nasova for analysis whilst the men are in police custody.

Missing persons

The number of cases of missing persions reported to police in the past week from the period of June 2 to June 6.

Record from the Police Statistics Unit reveals the from the last week of May- 26 -30 a total of one report of missing person was reported.

The first week of June – 2 to 6 saw a total of 11 cases of missing persons were reported.

Of the cases that were reported this week, five involve students .

Police is appealing to families and friends to liaise with their children in regards to their movements.
