“Am I dedicated, loyal and committed to serving the organization and the community?”

This was a question the Commissioner of Police posed to his officers during their Thanksgiving Church Service at the Police Special Response Unit on Sunday January 18.

Commissioner of Police Ben Groenewald acknowledged the hard work put in by his officers in 2014 and called on them to reflect on what was good and not good and see how they can work together as an organisation to improve in 2015.

“Today we are not only acknowledging our existence as humans, colleagues and friends but we are here to see how we can improve our calling of being servants of the community”.

“It’s the beginning of another new year and no one knows what lies ahead of us and where we will be which is why we must always acknowledge and give thanks for all our achievements”.

Today’s Thanksgiving Church Service was also a way to thank officers for their commitment and diligence during the month long“Operation Yadrayadravi” which came to an end on the 10th of this month.

Commissioner Ben said since taking over in May 2014, he has witnessed a number of incidents which challenged the integrity of the organisation, however with the support of his officers they had managed to overcome such negativity.

“We can do better and I urge you to ask yourselves how you can do more to serve the organisation and the community”

“Together we have witnessed many successes both in our professional and personal lives and we should continue to acknowledge the good work that is being done by all of our officers”.

The head of the organisation also acknowledge the vital supporting role families play towards the success of the Fiji Police Force. He called on his officers to execute their duties in a professional manner keeping in mind how it would affect their families and loved ones.

“Ask yourself, do I care about family, colleagues and others because your actions if negative will also affect them and your relationships”.
