Progress report for Rabi murder case

 The 21 year old farmer alleged to have caused the death of a 34 year old farmer on Rabi Island at the weekend has been charged.

 Police say that the accused has been charged with one count of murder and will be produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.

Progress report on alleged rape case

 A 31 year old man is expected to be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today charged with allegedly raping a 10 year old student earlier this month.

The accused has been charged with one count of attempted rape and one count of rape.

 The matter was reported at the Nakasi Police Station last Friday by the victim’s aunt after she was informed of the alleged incident by the victim.

 Police say that the incident is alleged to have occurred once when she was returning from school and another when she was heading to school.

36-YEAR OLD DIES AFTER UNFORTUNATE PINE TREE CUTTING ACCIDENT

A 36 year old chainsaw operator died as a result of an unfortunate accident on Tuesday, April 29,the incident occurred between 4-5pm at Nawailevu Hills, Lekutu .

Police say that the deceased was hit by a falling pine tree.

He was accompanied by a fellow worker who was standing a few meters away when he witnessed the pine tree the deceased was cutting fall on the deceased.

 He was rushed to the Lekutu Health Centre where he received treatment while awaiting the doctor’s arrival from Labasa.

At 10pm he was unfortunately pronounced dead following an operation and it is believed he died as a result of injuries sustained.

 Investigations continue.

 

POLICE SEARCH FOR MISSING VEHICLE

A search is underway for a red Hyundai elantra vehicle HB 924 that was stolen from the home of an executive following an early morning robbery at  3 am at Namadi Heights.

Police say that 4 masked men entered the house of the executive and stole some jewelry and cash before taking off in the vehicle.
