Positive Feelings from Down Under

Nadi, 9 September 2015 –Tourism Fiji’s Australia Regional Office has noted a positive effectto its roadshows from travel agents across Down Under that have been held throughout the year.

The Regional Office organised five national roadshows covering niche markets, which included MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events), mainstream, luxury, wedding and romance, and eight regional roadshows.

The objective of the roadshows is to increase general agent knowledge of the geography of Fiji, the features and benefits of each region of Fiji and the chance for suppliers to form relationships with key industry sellers and decision makers.

Around 1,050 travel agents had a chance to meet with both Australian and Fiji-based Directors of Sales & Marketing and senior marketing staff from approximately 20 hoteland transport service providers, across all the roadshows.

Each roadshow was tailored to each market segment.  They conducted between 10-16 x 5-10 minute presentations to each group of agents selling their unique selling points and product.

Tourism Fiji Australia Regional Director, Ms Carlah Walton says, “Tourism Fiji understands that not all service providers have the budget to attend these roadshows and actively promote attractions and smaller properties in their presentations and training sessions.”

“These roadshows are imperative to the growth of Australian tourists to Fiji.  Traditional agents are still a major source of passenger bookings for us and making sure agents have the information to influence and effectively sell Fiji to their clients is paramount.  There is a lot of competition out of Australia so it is vital agents have the tools and skills to confidently sell Fiji as a destination.”

Ms Walton says business in Australia is based on relationships and trust.

“Australians base their trust on relationships and there’s no better way to build those relationships than face to face,” she adds.

A diverse representation of properties and operators co-operate with the Australian Regional Office to showcase Fiji’s natural beauty from all regions.
