Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has arrived in Bua to begin his tour of the Northern Division.

Accompanied by senior government officials, the Prime Minister will tour various sites in Vanua Levu to assess various government and military projects.  The Head of Government will also visit the island of Rabi and Taveuni and will officiate at events there later this week.

Today the Prime Minister will open the Bua nursing station which will provide medical services to more than five villages, 16 settlements and four schools.  Later, he will visit newly built houses which were damaged during Hurricane Evan.

The head of government will also open the new Government Service Centre in Labasa later this week. Following the opening of the last service centre in Nausori last year, the Prime Minister pointed out its significance to all Fijians.

“The GSC means what it says – service. We are serving the people, the taxpayers and their dependents who deserve much higher standards of attention, efficiency, courtesy and respect,” PM Bainimarama said.

“These centres will provide a single point – a one-stop shop – for at least 20 separate government agencies.”
