The Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, is visiting Australia on the final stage of his current overseas tour, which has also taken him to London and the Middle East.

He is meeting members of the Fijian community and receiving briefings from Fijian diplomatic and trade officials.

The Prime Minister was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome in Sydney and is being hosted at a dinner reception this evening by the Fijian community.

In his meetings with Fijian diplomats, the Prime Minister was briefed by the Acting Head of Fiji’s Diplomatic mission, Cheryl Brown-Irava, and the Consul General in Sydney, Losana Ravuso, on the work being carried out to enhance bilateral ties now that the two countries are normalising their diplomatic relations.

The Prime Minister is on his way back to Fiji after successful sugar talks in London and a visit to Fijian peacekeeping troops in the Middle East.
