Fijians for the first time will witness the 2015 Miss Fiji Pageant in Nadi later this month whereby 10 winning queens from various townships will contest at a national level.

Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala, while speaking at the sponsorship signing between Miss Fiji Pageant Association and Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) this week, said the event is an opportunity for the queen contestants to promote their various towns and cities.

TFL has provided a major sponsorship of $50,000 for the hosting of the inaugural event from 17th to 24th October, 2015.

Minister Bala said the national level pageant will allow townships’ winning queens compete for the Miss Fiji title.

“The winner shall then take part at the regional and internationally organized events, including the South Pacific Pageant 2015. Queens participating from various townships will be carrying their townships tags and promote their respective towns and cities,” Minister Bala said.

Minister Bala said for continuity of the townships’ carnival and to ensure that the Miss Fiji Pageant platform strengthens, respective towns and city councils will continue to play a significant role in organizing such festivals every year.

Sharol Mudaliar,18, who will be representing Nausori, said this was an opportunity of a life time.

“We are glad to be a part of this historic event, where we can promote the beauty of our various municipalities and our beloved Fiji. We shall provide you with the best we have,” Miss Mudaliar said.

The week-long 2015 Miss Fiji Pageant will be held at the Koroivulo Park, Prince Charles Park and various other venues in Nadi.
