Regional Office nominated for Excellence Awards in Australia

Nadi,March 23, 2015 – Tourism Fiji’s Australia office has been nominated for an award in the 2015 Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) for Excellence – the premier tourism industry event of the year, to be held on 18 July in Sydney.

Up against top international tourism offices based in Australia such as Canada, Hawaii, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Ireland, UAE, and the USA – Tourism Fiji is nominated in the “Best Tourist Office- International” category.

A total of 37 categories are listed for the awards and voting has begun. Voting closes at 5pm Monday 13 April.

The five NTIA 2015 Finalists in each category will be announced once the voting period concludes in May. The returned votes will go through strict internal auditing process by AFTA to ensure the validity of all votes.

Tourism Fiji’s Regional Director Australia, Ms Carlah Walton says that it is great to be nominated for the awards and Tourism Fiji should surely make it into the finals.

“To be nominated by the trade is a great honour. It shows that our efforts in supporting our major distribution channels and having a greater presence on the ground in all three states is working. Fiji continues to be a favourite destination for Australian travellers, and it’s nice to know we’re a favourite of the industry too.”

The winners in each category will be announced at the 2015 AFTA NTIA Gala Dinner, to be held at the Dockside Pavilion, Darling Harbour on Saturday 18 July.

The 2014 AFTA NTIA winner for the Best Tourist Office- International was Tourism New Zealand.
