SCHOOLS TO OPEN FOR NORMAL CLASSES TOMORROW

The Ministry of Education has advised parents that all schools will open for normal classes tomorrow.

Deputy Secretary for Education Basundra Kumar said “we are closely monitoring the weather reports and if the weather worsens overnight then the ministry will advise the public accordingly”.

“Right now, we have not received any report of a school that has been closed as a result of the adverse weather,” she said.

“Parents are advised to also monitor the weather conditions and too listen to radio for updates,” Mrs Kumar said.

“Some of the children living in flood-prone areas and some have to cross bridges and Irish crossings. It’s the responsibility of the parents to ensure their children’s safety and act accordingly,” Mrs Kumar said.

Mrs Kumar said they have received reports from Rakiraki town that flood waters have receded and it’s safe for children to return school.
