Sprint King Banuve gets reward from Digicel Fiji

Digicel Fiji honored its brand ambassador and Pacific sprint champion, Banuve Tabakaucoro in a colorful staff function at their Kadavu House headquarters in Suva this morning.

Digicel Fiji staff wearing tee-shirts and waving placards labeled ‘I love Banuve Tabakaucoro and Simply Ban-Tastic’ cheered on the triple gold medalist from the Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna as the star runner arrived at the function.

“I’m thrilled to be have my good sponsor, Digicel Fiji supporting me and I would like to thank them as they have helped me all this way so I can do better and clock good times and win gold medals,” said Tabakaucoro.

“It gets tougher from here and with Digicel’s support I will work harder and try my best to run better times in the future competitions,” added Tabakaucoro.

Digicel Fiji head of marketing, Sheryl Singh said,” we are proud of your achievement. Three gold medals and two sprint records is something no other athlete in a long time has been able to get in the Pacific.”

Tabakaucoro won gold medals in the 100, 200 and 4x400metres relay. He set new Pacific records, breaking the 18-year old standing 100metres record clocking 10.33seconds and a new time of 21.13seconds in the 200metres.

Singh presented Tabakaucoro with a $1,000 cash and a new Mooli tablet in recognition for his golden efforts in Wallis and Futuna.
