STATEMENT BY THE COMMANDER OF THE RFMF ON FIJIAN TROOPS 

The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces says that the situation surrounding the Fijian peacekeepers detained by armed rebels remain unchanged.

Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga said that the Fijian army is coordinating closely with the United Nations team for the safe release of the 45 Fijian troops.

He emphasised that despite the situation, the troops have access to food, water and medical supplies and all are reported to be in good health.

The Commander said that negotiations between authorities and the rebel group continue.
