Suva suffers a disappointing loss against Nadroga

Suva suffered their disappointing home ground loss against the Digicel Cup defending champion Nadroga, 30-16, at the newly renovated ANZ Stadium, today.

Nadroga scored three tries from Jovesa Kunawave, Apisalome Waqatabu and Jiuta Lutumailagi to lead halftime, 20-6.

Nadroga Head Coach, Esala Nauga said he is satisfied with the way the boys played and looks forward to work on other weak areas they need to improve on.

“I thank the boys for playing well and actually followed the game plan that was set out for them. But we still need to improve on our set pieces, scrums and lineouts, which we will on later,” he said.

Suva tried to bounce back with a last minute try but was not enough to beat the Nadroga team.

Suva Head Coach, Salimoni Ravouvou said the loss was very disappointing, and was not he expected.

“The game today was very disappointing, we wanted to build up the performance to the momentum and maintain it, but unfortunately we could not do that,” he said.

Nadroga to take on Tailevu while, Suva will take on Macuata in the next round of the Digicel Cup matches.

In other matches, Naitasiri defeated Lautoka 14-13, Northland thrashed Ovalau 20-3, Namosi defeated Tavua 41-9, Tailevu thrashed Macuata 56-15, Vatukoula defeated Nadi 21-20.
