Three Fijians named in EAP side

Three Fijians have been selected as members of the East-Asia Pacific (EAP) team that will contest the Rising Stars Quad Series to be staged in Darwin, Australia, in September.

Makutu Seru, Tukana Tavo and Viliame Mana will compete along side their colleagues from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Japan, against teams representing PNG, the Australian Indigenous XI, and the Northern Territory Strikers in a series of matches held between September 14 and 19.

For Makutu, Tukana and Viliame, all who are members of Fiji’s Senior Men’s National Squad, this will be a unique experience for them to hone their skills on a turf wicket, ahead of the Senior Men’s Tour to India, followed by the International Cricket Council’s EAP Twenty20 World Cup and World Cricket League Qualifiers later in 2014.

Aside from the three Fijians, there are five players from Vanuatu, five from PNG, and one Japanese player in the team, which will be coached by PNG’s John Ovia.
