Toddler found dead, others missing

The Fiji Police Force Investigations Department has raised concerns for the rising number of missing person’s cases.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro has confirmed that the body of a 2 year 7 month old girl from Viseisei village has been recovered from the Vuda Marina area this afternoon.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said a post mortem will now be conducted before they can say anything further.

Naisoro earlier confirmed that the girl was playing with her friends in the presence of her 36 year old mother and neighbors.

The girl was said to go missing while playing with her friends’ yesterday afternoon in Viseisei village, while the team of police officers were searching for the toddler since last night.

Meanwhile Police say two students who were last known leaving for the Hibiscus Festival have been reported missing from their homes since last Saturday.

Sixteen year old Yashmira Sahana Kaur was last seen at 9am Saturday leaving home with her mother for Albert Park.  She was to accompany her mother to work at a stall however she failed to return home after work at 9pm.

Yashmira was last seen wearing blue shorts and a purple top with black flip flops.

While in a separate incident 15 year old Mosese Bale who resides at Nanuku Settlement has been missing from home since 7pm Saturday.  He was last seen leaving for the Hibiscus Carnival with his cousin.

At 12 midnight they returned from the grounds where he parted ways at the junction of Daya Street, Vatuwaqa.Mosese was last seen wearing a yellow round neck t-shirt, ¾ jeans and black flip flops.

A security officer of Vomo Street, Lautoka, Soliki Lakalaka has also been reported missing since the 3rd of this month.

Soliki was last seen leaving his home in Delainavesi for work in Lautoka.
