Champion sevens team Westfield Barbarians has paved the way for yet another successful partnership as Tokatoka Resort Hotel General manager Rohit Kant and Westfield Barbarians Head coach Epeli Lagiloa signed an agreement for the renewal of the team’s sponsorship in Nadi yesterday.
“This is the second year Tokatoka Resort Hotel has been the major sponsor for the Tokatoka Westfield Barbarians rugby team and we are extremely proud with our association as we always wanted to sponsor a winning team,”said Mr. Kant.
Mr Kant added that the sponsorship was worth $15,000 and upon signing the agreement the team will receive a cheque of $7,500 and the remaining amount will be given to the team after the team submits its mid-seven’s season report.
He also highlighted the resorts support for the team was more of a contribution to the land owning community as the resort is currently based on the territory of the Saunaka village, Nadi which is the home of the Westfield Barbarian’s team.
“The sponsorship is very timely, like any other club we need the finance to facilitate the needs of the team,” fitness guru Master Epeli Lagiloa said.
With just two-days to the 38th Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens two- day tournament training techniques for the team are now more centred on speed work, agility , solid work-out sessions before easing off due to the teams intense training sessions before the martintar sevens.
According to Mr. Lagiloa the team hopes to depart for Suva today and they are eager to showcase their skills during the two day tournament.
The champion side will be out to defend their Marist title following their outstanding performance in the Martintar Sevens last week.
