“I thank Mr. Whyte for this and congratulate the Nadroga rugby team for their victory.”

Suva’s Special Administrator, Mr. Chandu Umaria graciously honoured his Digicel Cup “bet” deal and wore a Nadroga rugby shirt at work yesterday.

Mr. Umaria and his counterpart from Sigatoka, Mr. Jay Whyte had challenged each other and placed a bet ahead of last Saturday’s Digicel Cup final which was won by Nadroga 21 – 12 against Suva at Lawaqa Park.

The deal was that the losing team’s Administrator will wear the Digicel Cup champion’s shirt or jersey to work on Monday.

“I am wearing the Nadroga colors today to honour the deal I made with Mr. Jay Whyte,” said Mr. Umaria.

“This Nadroga shirt gives me and my body a very special feeling. The black and white colors make me feel ‘My Suva soccer team’. The blue stallion on the shirt makes me feel ‘My Suva rugby team – Suva’s blue jersey.’

“Suva played well and gave their best in the final but the better team on the day won the final,” added on Mr. Umaria who’s also the patron of the SRU.

“I will look forward to placing another bet with Mr. Whyte ahead of the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy challenge match,” said Mr. Umaria.
