22 September, 2014. With Apple launching its latest eighth generation iPhone last week, Vodafone Fiji has announced that it is now ready to provide 4G on all 4G capable Apple devices, including the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Vodafone launched its 4G LTE network in December 2013 and has since been working with the US based company to develop and deploy a special software release that supports 4G on capable Apple products in Fiji.
Chief Commercial Officer for Vodafone Fiji Mr. Ronald Prasad said, “It’s a much anticipated release for our iPhone customers who have been patiently waiting to experience the blazing 4G speeds on their Apple devices. There is around 25,000 Apple devices registered on Vodafone’s Network and already over 1,000 preorders for the new iPhone 6.
Mr. Prasad said, Apple sets very high standards on service delivery through Apple devices to give an exceptional customer experience. In doing so, Apple requires certain parameters in the Network to be optimized before endorsing the any Network to release 4G on Apple devices. Leanne Hardie, Apple Account Director said, “Vodafone and Apple engineers have been working behind the scenes on a comprehensive and rigorous user acceptance testing (UAT) before Apple would approve the 4G software release for Fiji.
Being able to launch 4G services on Apple devices at a time when Apple is launching its new flagship is a milestone achievement for Vodafone Fiji.” Unfortunately, Fiji does not always get the priority of multinational global mobile giants like Apple because of our small scale and size. We are therefore thrilled that Vodafone is the first network operator in Fiji to deliver 4G on Apple devices for our customers.
Apple has just launched its latest game changing iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Globally iPhone 6 sales hit a record four million pre-orders in the first 24 hours alone. This has led to some delays in procuring stock for our customers which means availability of iPhone 6’s in Fiji will be sometimes in early October.
