Westpac morning walks get even bigger
The Westpac Morning Walks is a community programme organized in partnership by the Ministry of Health, Wellness Unit, the Fiji Physiotherapy Association and Westpac Banking Corporation.
The walks aim to bring people’s attention to their state of health and create awareness of the need to be physically active for general wellness and health in order to combat NCDs.
Westpac’s Manager Sustainability Eseta Nadakuitavuki said she was overwhelmed by the response and number of people who have committed to turning up to the walk this Saturday beginning at 6am at all locations around the country and these include:
We have a great support in Nadi for all the walks held this year with the support of various stakeholders.
“Today with the Bula Festival committee support I am pleased to see that we have reached another level,” said Ms Naduikatavuki.
“The Nadi community has taken the walks to the next level having it every second month and increasing the numbers that participate and the Bula Festival has given an opportunity for growing partnerships.
“When we first started the walk in late 2011 we struggled to get the interest of the community and today we are pleased to say that people are asking about more information on the walks and wanting to participate. We have had interests from schools in particular the West and the Corporate and private sectors.
“Moving the nation to a healthier Fiji is the objective of the partnership between Westpac, the physiotherapy Association and the Ministry of Health.
The Physiotherapists around the country will provide advice on personal exercise plans whilst the Ministry of health teams around the country will provide free medical checks.
This year, Westpac Fiji celebrates 112 years of serving the Fiji community. The bank today employs more than 520 people, operates 20 branches and has an extensive ATM and EFTPOS network to service thousands of customers, providing personal and business banking, corporate banking, foreign trading and international services.
