2015 FMF Chow Games countdown begins

November 19, 2015. Athletes and organisers of the 2015 FMF Chow Games could not have wished for better weather to host this year’s FMF Chow Games at the Fiji Sports Council’s ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva which starts on Friday.

Less than 24 hours remain before the national primary schools athletics event featuring 22 schools with close to 1,600 athletes competing over two days of competition.

Major sponsor, Flour Mills of Fiji Limited’s $70,000 investment into the event indicates what will be a spectacular showing of young talent from all over the country.

Putting up a strong challenge for gold medal wins are the Lautoka athletes who return to the national competition with 134 participants.

Lautoka was placed eighth at the 2011 Chow Games, which was the last time that the western schools participated in the event.

The Sugar City will be represented by 134 athletes at the national competition.

Lautoka participated in a mini western athletics competition yesterday.

Events begin on Friday from 8.30am with the first field events being the Girls Long Jump Under 9s and Boys Long Jump Under 10 events, the Cricket Ball Throws which will take place at the Buckhurst grounds while the first track event at the ANZ Stadium will be the Under 12 Girls 1500-meter final.
