Mr Chawda said they had raised about $80,000 so far and were delighted with the responsive assistance offered from the business community and companies such as Sun Insurance.

“Repairs and refurbishment works began in August and we have finished four stages of repair works already, with the major concrete laying of the four pyres, next week,” he said.

Mr Chawada said the final stage of the project will be for the caretakers house, which is flood-prone and they hope to start work on this in mid-October.
This would be before the cyclone and flooding season.  Mr Chawda is also Jack’s of Fiji Business Development general manager.
