Athletes to strive for the best

More than 2,400 athletes from 143 schools were encouraged to strive for the best during opening of the 2013 Coca Cola Games at the newly renovated ANZ Bank Stadium, earlier today.

Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, Minister for Labour, Jone Usamate said Coca Cola Games is the grounding for athletes to later represent the country in the future.

Usamate later adds that every athlete should work together towards their target and make Fiji proud.

The first round of field events will kick start at 9.40am, while the first track event will be at 9.45am, which will be the 1500 metres open girls final.

The 100 metres final, which is the highlight of the day, will start at 7.49pm.

 A total of 43 gold medals are on offer on the first day.
