Australian parliamentary inquiry looks at state of women, girls in PNG

Former PNG MP Dame Carol Kidu joined a discussion in Canberra on Tuesday January 3, at an inquiry into human rights issues confronting women and girls in the Indian Ocean and Asia-Pacific region.

Her focus was on the current situation for women and girls in PNG.

The parliamentary committee included questions from the chair and Liberal Party MP Teresa Gambaro, as well as Greens MP Melissa Parke, and Labor MP and shadow foreign spokeswoman Tanya Pliberselk.

Dame Carol Kidu kicked off proceedings with a damning review of the state of affairs in PNG.
