The 4R Electric Ba side have won the 2013 Courts Inter-district Championship after they beat the Jacks Nadi side in the Super Premier final earlier this afternoon by 2-1.
Soccer spectators and fans got to see almost 90 minutes of Fijian football at its best as both the sides showed an uncountable performance, while Ba taking out the game in the final minutes of extra time to their name making themselves the rightful owners of this years Loyd Farebrother Trophy.
Ba’s Abbu Zaheed was the star of the grand final as the nippy sticker enlightened the Ba fans by scoring the winning goal for the Men in Black during second half of the extra time.
Nadi came with an early opener by the boots of central midfielder Viliame Toma as the Jetsetter’s lead Ba by a goal to nil till half time. Ba seemed to be a change side in the second half as fans got to see a much faster pace of soccer and attempts by the Ba stickers towards the Nadi goalmouth, Ba evened their score board by a penalty through the boots of Avinesh Waran Swamy after a foul on Captain, Osea Vakatalesau by the Nadi defense .
At full time both teams were locked at one all and the match went into extra time. Abbu Zaheed came to be the god for the Ba side as the former Lautoka and Drasa Secondary School player scored the winning goal through a sliding goal.
“This win is for all the Ba fans and and for my mother, said Ba’s winning goal scorer Abbu Zaheed.
While, the Premier division was taken out by Dreketi as they beat Taveuni by 2-1.
Secondary schools division was won by Drasa Secondary of Lautoka after they beat Rewa’s Saraswati College by 2-1 and Primary Schools division crowned to Ba Primary.
Meanwhile, Ba has received a total of $15,000 prize money from the Fiji FA while the Ba Fan Club has also given $10,000 as a token for the much anticipated win. Nadi as runner-ups of the tournament have received$5,000.
