Beauty Police: Rita Ora’s Hair Looks Like She Let a Six-Year-Old Style It

When we first saw photos of Rita Ora at the Paper Magazine’s Beautiful People Party, we figured maybe she was dancing so hard that one of her braided buns came out, hence the braid slithering down her face like a snake hatching from an egg.

Then we saw photos of the songstress from the side and realized her hair faux pas was no accident. We’re not sure if Rita thought exposed hair elastics and rogue braids would make her hair look edgy, but to us it looked like she let her young niece do the honors.

As for the makeup…for such a pretty girl she wears a tremendous amount of makeup. We’re all for a faux glow but this look was more faux than glow! Piling bronzer on top of foundation on top of self-tanner makes the singer’s skin look artificial and thick.

We feel like Rita’s hair is having a bit of an identity crisis. Just a couple weeks ago she had long flowing extensions, then last week she had a teased Marilyn-esque bob. We like Rita’s hair best when she wears her tresses down and textured.

We’re all for the singer adding a little edge to her hair but she should at least choose styles that are flattering!

As for the makeup, we would begin by applying a self-tanner to her décolleté, shoulders and arms that had a more natural warmer golden tone, like St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil.

Tip: Make sure you exfoliate before applying a self-tanner to ensure the color goes on evenly.

Then, instead of applying self-tanner to her face, we would use a primer that had a hint of natural-looking bronze, like Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF20 Spotlight.

Next, since Rita’s foundation is looking a bit heavy and flat, we would substitute it for an oil-free mineral-based CC cream with a luminous finish, like ORGO Protect and Perfect CC Cream SPF 15.

To achieve this at home, start by applying dots of the CC cream on the center of your face and blend outwards with a brush or sponge.

For a more airbrushed finish, lightly spray a makeup sponge with alcohol-free toner or water and blot entire face.

Instead of harsh contouring and blush stripes, Rita should have just added a healthy flush to the apples of her cheeks with a gel or cream blush like MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Blush. To apply cream blush, tap makeup onto the apples of your cheeks and blend. For extra lift, blend upwards towards your temples.

Rita is so pretty, we really wish she would ease up on the heavy face makeup and opt for more flattering hairstyles. It’s not like we expect her (or want her) to always wear her hair the same way but our girl has made some unfortunate hair choices recently.

But who knows? Maybe we’re right and she was being a good auntie by letting her little niece style her hair.

So we just need to hope that her niece steps it up for the next event.
