First time visitors Ron and Ellen Thompson of Huntsville, Alabama, USA were concerned when they first learnt about the plight of children who lost everything during the two floods which haunted the people of Nadi early last year.

So when the couple decided to finally travel to Fiji, they collected heaps of books and stationery for children who were deeply affected by the floods.

“We decided to come in with the books and school stuff for the kids and the support we have received from Sofitel Fiji has been wonderful in facilitating all this,” offered Ellen Thompson, a former school teacher now working for the University of Alabama.

“We had no idea about the recent cyclone but we saw a lot of news about the floods last year so we decided to collect all the stuff and get it over,” she added.

The couple had a chance to meet up with children of Andrews Primary School and hand over the books and stationery to them.
