The body of a woman believed to be in her 50s was found near a river about 2km away from the Navunikabi Villlage in Namosi yesterday morning.
The decease had left to collect firewood and when she failed to return home a search was conducted whereby her body was found in the river.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro mentioned that she was conveyed to the Navua Hospital however was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted soon.
Until the results can confirm the cause of death the police are yet to classify this death as a drowning case
However the drowning death toll currently stands at 2 compared to 3 for the same period last year.
