Wednesday, May 28, 2014 – Digicel Fiji is pleased to announce its sponsorship for the 2014 Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival with a cash and kind value of $15,000. This is the second-year for the sponsorship of this carnival.
Included in the sponsorship, apart from cash, are various prizes which will be on offer for contestants as well as to the members of the organising committee of the week-long fete.
Digicel Fiji’s Commercial Director, Mr. Andrew Skelton signed the sponsorship deal with the carnival’s chief organizer, Mr. Satish Kumar at the Banana Leaf Restaurant and expressed his enthusiasm in supporting projects up in the North.
“We are delighted to partner with the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival committee to support this great initiative, where the community in the North joins hands with Police and other stakeholders to promote crime prevention,” said Mr. Skelton.
“The inter-acting community partnership with the Police and the residents of the friendly towns of the North are great tools that we at Digicel are overwhelmed to support,” added Mr. Skelton.
There have been a lot of cases of crimes reported in the North and this is the kind of initiative that’s needed to educate the community at large.
Carnival chief organizer, Mr. Satish Kumar thanked Digicel for their continuous support towards the event.
“This is the third year for this carnival and we are delighted to have Digicel on board as a sponsor for the second time,” said Mr. Kumar.
“I would like to call on all citizens of Labasa and surrounding towns to come and support this week-long fete as this will help in fighting crime, which is not only the work of the Police but it’s everyone’s responsibility.”
The Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival will be held at Subrail Park, Labasa from June 14th to the 21st.
