DPP Builds on State Prosecution Team

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Christopher Pryde, has announced the appointment of Vinsent Perera as the latest Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.

“Mr Perera is a welcome addition to our team with an impressive track record in prosecutions. He has more than thirteen years’ experience as a prosecutor and was the Manager Legal at FICAC for four years,” said Mr Pryde.

Mr Perera, originally from Sri Lanka, holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and he obtained his professional qualifications as an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka from the Sri Lanka Law College.

While serving in the Attorney General’s Department in Sri Lanka for more than a decade Mr Perera represented the State in court as well as provided legal advice to Governmental departments and institutions on various legal issues.

At FICAC, while managing the Legal Department, he held an advisory role to the Deputy Commissioner and was an instrumental mentor for his team of lawyers.

Mr Pryde added “Our recruitment programme for 2014 is continuing and we will be shortly also inviting high calibre recent law graduates to apply for three legal officer positions to be based in Suva.”

Mr Perera joins Mosese Korovou, Ruth Townsend and Michael Delaney as the fourth Assistant DPP and will be based in Suva.
